Plain Space

Don't you just love this serene space from Brit architect John Pawson's
book Plain Space (Phaidon) 2011? I do. I love the

... beautiful photograph,
the subtle shades,
the stunning light.

Just perfect.

Very white morning view

Gorgeous installation, called Room 211, by talented Canadian designer Lisa Keophilia. Imagin waking up in the morning and looking up at all those white flowers, slowly moving in the breeze from the open window.... mmmmmmm. Should I try something similar, or would it involve too much dusting?

Monday Mix

Today I give you four of the most repinned images on my Pinterest boards last week. Love these spacious rooms and the black and white photos.

In my part of Sweden, the rains continues. No, no snow. Just very grey days. I've spent a day in town. Shopping. For the upcoming Midsummer festivities. Fingers crossed the weather improves 'till then.

Retro Color Combinations - 1950-talets färger

Are you into retro? Looking for inspiration to create that laid back, 1950s Scandinavian look? Here are some great color suggestions. Don't you just love the muted shades? If it wasn't for the grey (concrete?) wall, you'd think this was a photo from back then, but it's a recent pic from Sköna Hem.

Cozy Sunday

OK - it's now official: it's June. It's summer in Sweden. Or so they say.  But temperatures are low and it's raining cats and dogs outside my window, so I keep a fire going , keeping warm and cozy.

The whole thing is really very clever: first you get hot from cutting down the tree. Then you stay warm while chopping it. And now my cheeks are glowing from the burning fire. Mmmmmmm.

Don't have a fireplace? Here are some "fiery" inspiration, if you're planning to build one at your home.
Any summer where you are?

A bedroom - the bedroom

It's been a busy day. Off to bed now. Not in this relaxing bedroom, photographed by Sharyn Cairns for Homelife

My bedroom is facing a garden. My garden. I keep the window slightly open - the air is so fresh in the country, and I love to wake up in the wee hours by birds singing. Nothing fancy. Just fresh and calm.

What's your bedroom like? Absolutely perfect, or are you working on it?

Black floors is da sh.. , da thing

I love dark floors. Like these black ones in a house by Koichi Kimura Architects found via

Everything has beauty...

Everything has beauty - but not everyone can see it.
Here are a few images to test that statement by Confucious.
Can you see it?
